ATLANTIC CITY PARK DEDICATION MEMORIALIZES 10-YEAR-OLD FATAL SHOOTING VICTIM MICAH (DEW) TENNANT, FAMILY CONTINUES CALL FOR END TO RAMPANT GUN VIOLENCE

The renaming ceremony also marks Micah Tennant’s 11th birthday. Micah (Dew) Tennant, the 10-year-old sports fan who was shot and killed last November when gunfire erupted at a New Jersey high school football game, will be remembered tomorrow – on Micah’s birthday – when Atlantic City’s Maryland Avenue Playground is officially renamed for Micah at a ceremony hosted by Mayor Marty Smalls, Sr., the city has announced. At his birthday celebration last year, Micah, whose nickname was ‘DJ Dew’ as he dreamed of becoming a DJ, was surprised with a custom turntable-cake.

The event starts at 3 p.m. at the playground, which is undergoing major renovations, on the 800 block of N. Maryland Ave. Micah’s family said through their attorney, Oliver T. Barry, “We are so grateful to the Mayor and other Atlantic City officials who decided to pay tribute to Micah’s beautiful but all too short life by naming his favorite neighborhood playground in his honor.”
